About Shih Poos.
Shih-Poos are delightful and affectionate designer dogs, a cross between the Shih Tzu and the Poodle. These small, fluffy companions inherit the best qualities of their parent breeds, making them a wonderful choice for families, singles, and seniors alike. With their hypoallergenic coats, Shih-Poos are a great option for those with allergies, offering minimal shedding while maintaining their beautiful, soft fur.
Known for their friendly and loving nature, Shih-Poos thrive on companionship and enjoy being close to their owners. They are intelligent and eager to please, making them relatively easy to train. Whether snuggling on the couch or joining in playful activities, these adorable pups bring joy wherever they go.
Raised with care and attention to health, our Shih-Poo puppies come with a health guarantee, ensuring they start life on the right paw. Their adaptable personalities allow them to fit into various living situations, from apartments to larger homes, and they get along well with children and other pets.
If you're looking for a devoted, cheerful, and hypoallergenic furry friend, a Shih-Poo may be the perfect addition to your family!

Grooming & Daily Care
Shih Poos are not low maintenance. Under the eyes should be wiped every day. You may want to consult with a professional groomer. Long hair can hold or retain liquid a bit longer, making stains develop. These stains come from a chemical called Porphyn found in dogs tears, saliva and urine.
Another daily routine to be followed is wiping the inside of the ears as well as a good check of the genitals and rectum to be sure there is no debris or stains. Leaving dried poop or urine stains can result in bacterial infections.
The coat should be brushed daily - not that it really needs it daily, but it teaches your pup to stand quietly while being groomed so that when it comes time to go to the groomer, your pup will already know the routine. Daily brushing also prevents mats.
Nails should be trimmed every 2 weeks.
Potty Training
Up to when a puppy has been picked up by new owners, it has been paper-trained and has done very well in the kennel situation. None of the pups have peed or pooped on their blankets - only on the newspaper. When given a chance they prefer to go outside on stone rather than on the paper. They've had a good start and they are a clean litter.

Teeth
Because of the shape of a Shih Poos mouth, they commonly suffer from gum infections, overcrowding and tartar accumulation.
Active play with a rubber toy such as a ball (not too soft or too hard) or a rubber chew toy such as a Kong can potentially have beneficial effects. The toy subjects the teeth to tipping pressure in a labial direction, reduce lingually displaced mandibular canine teeth. Active play for 15 minutes three times / day is recommended. Longer or more frequent episodes are preferable.

About Bev
With over 60 years experience working with all types of animals, for Bev, the care and wellbeing of animals has been a lifelong passion.
After studying and receiving Certification as a Veterinary Assistant and spending time working in a busy vet clinic in Nova Scotia, she then decided to open her own boarding kennels - caring for the needs at times of 30-50 dog and cat boarders.
Bev is no longer operating a boarding kennel, but she now focuses on breeding Shih Poo's that have excellent temperament, are healthy and well socialized.
She always looks forward to calls, texts & updates about the Shih Poo's that have found their home from her heart & home to yours.
